About Cherise da Cunha

Cherise Ann da Cunha received a Bachelor of Music degree with a major in Piano Performance, a Master of Music degree with a major in Piano Pedagogy from Texas Christian University (TCU) in Fort Worth, Texas, and is a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM).

Miss da Cunha was on the Music Faculty at Harper College in the suburbs of Chicago. She has also taught at North Central College in Naperville, IL, and was local facilitator for Chicagoland SPELLS, a nonprofit piano advocacy organization. In Texas she taught Adult Class Piano and Prep Piano at TCU.

In addition to her teaching duties Miss da Cunha has performed solo and chamber music recitals in Indiana, Texas, Illinois as well as Canada, India and United Kingdom. She served as co-chair for Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) affiliated piano competitions, was adjudicator for area competitions and festivals and was accompanist at various services and functions for church and college choirs.

Miss da Cunha moved to the Portland area in 2002 and served on the piano faculty at Pacific University in Forest Grove for five years. She has also served as President for Portland District of Oregon Music Teachers Association (OMTA), is a Certified Adjudicator for OMTA Syllabus Examinations and has served on OMTA Syllabus Committee at both State and Local levels.

In addition to maintaining a full home teaching studio Miss da Cunha is currently on the piano faculty at Portland Community College’s Sylvania Campus, teaching Applied Piano and Group Piano for Music Majors and Non-Music Majors, and is a busy accompanist at local area churches.
